On a pivotal day, the International Support for Uyghurs (ISU) staged a demonstration in front of the Chinese consulate in Montreal to honor the memory of the Ghulja Massacre and protest against the continuing genocide of the Uyghur people. The event kicked off at 1pm, with a procession setting out at 1:40 pm that drew approximately 100 participants. This gathering brought together the Uyghur community, ISU volunteers, and members of Action Free Hong Kong in a unified stand for justice.

The demonstration garnered attention from major news outlets such as CBC and CUTV, who were present to cover and report on the proceedings, thus underlining the protest's importance and the powerful messages being shared. Demonstrators, full of energy and solidarity, voiced slogans and listened to speeches from ISU advocates, amplifying their call for action.

A moment that stood out during the protest was the collective act of stepping on a photograph of Xi Jinping by all participants, a symbolic gesture of their rejection of and resistance to the suppression of the Uyghurs. This bold move highlighted the protesters' plea for an end to the suffering and a demand for justice. The event symbolized a firm opposition to human rights violations, bringing the Uyghurs' struggles to the forefront of international consciousness and urging a collective response.
