China and UN Human Rights Council Seat
Before the voting on October 13, activists and rights groups were calling on the UN state members to not allow China to keep their seat at the UN Human Rights Council due to their continuous human rights violations and ongoing genocide of Uyghurs in East Turkistan, called “Xinjiang” by the Chinese government. In addition to destroying the UN core values, Beijing is growing their presence and influence within the international organization. They were occupying the top job in the following U.N. agencies: the Food and Agriculture Association (FAO), the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO). Their influence has led to using their power within the UN for their own selfish intentions and disrespect of rights. The non-profit organization, Uyghur Human Rights Project, was also adding their voice to the campaign with the other rights groups with the hashtag #VoteNoChina on social media.

Chine et siège au Conseil des droits de l’Homme de l’ONU
Avant le vote du 13 octobre, militants et groupes des droits humains appellent aux États membres de l’ONU de ne pas permettre à la Chine de conserver son siège au Conseil des droits de l’Homme en raison des violations continuelles des droits humains en Chine et du génocide en cours des Ouïghours au Turkistan oriental, appelé « Xinjiang » par le gouvernement chinois. Par ailleurs, en accroissant sa présence et son influence à l’ONU, Pékin sape les valeurs qui sont au coeur de l’organisation. En effet, Pékin accapare des hauts postes majeurs dans les agences de l’ONU, comme : l’Organisation des Nations unies pour l'alimentation et l'agriculture (ONUAA), l’Organisation de l’aviation civile internationale (OACI), l’Union internationale des télécommunications (UIT) et l’Organisation des Nations Unis pour le développement industriel (ONUDI). Cela conduit la Chine à user de son influence à ses propres fins au détriment des droits humains. L’organisation à but non lucratif, Uyghur Human Rights Project, se joint à d’autres groupes pour apporter elle aussi son appui à la campagne avec le hashtag #VoteNoChina dans les réseaux sociaux.
