We cannot forget about the kidnapping, ongoing detention, and torture of Huseyin Celil. The release of Mr. Kovrig and Mr. Spavor was welcome news for all Canadians. It gives us hope to see Mr. Celil released and returned to Canada.

There is much work to be done, lest we forget that Beijing has never even afforded Mr. Celil a consular visit – a basic right given to most Canadians detained abroad.
