Despite the cold weather, more than 100 people participated in a protest march against Beijing’s
attempt to sportswash genocide and crimes against humanity. We marched from the Canadian Olympic
Committee building at 500 Rene Levesque Ouest to the Chinese Consulate in Montreal.
As we walked up Rene Levesque Ouest, multiple cars honked to show their support in standing up
against the corrupt regime in Beijing. The Government of China is guilty of Genocide, systematic forced
sterilization, separation of children from their families, torture, organ harvesting, and the list goes on…
Despite the crimes against humanity, Beijing goes on without a care because companies prioritize profits
and look away to deny the brutal reality of life for millions of Uyghurs, Tibetans, citizens of Hong Kong,
Inner Mongolians, and people of faith in China.
In front of the Chinese Consulate, we heard speeches from members of the coalition of activist
organizations who came together to organize this protest:
Action Free Hong Kong Montreal
Student for Free Tibet McGill
Regroupement pour la responsabilité sociale des entreprises (RRSE)
NO CI Quebec
We also heard from volunteers, community members, and participants who wanted to share their voice
of support.
How can you act?
1. Boycott Made in China, put the pressure on companies to prove they are not using forced labor
2. Call your MP to urge the Canadian government to protect Uyghur refugees by providing
expedited safe passage to Canada
3. Write to your MP to demand that Canada apply Magnitsky sanctions against key Beijing regime
officials who are directly responsible for planning and implementing Genocide policies
If you’re not sure how you can contact your MP, contact us and we will help you.
Don’t forget to share this post!
