More Chinese Companies Blacklisted For Uyghur Forced Labour

Recent developments have seen the U.S. government blacklist additional Chinese companies over alleged use of Uyghur forced labor, expanding the list to 73 entities. Notably, companies like Hong Kong's Rare Earth Magnesium Technology Group and its parent, Century Sunshine Group, have been implicated, as well as Zijin Mining Group's subsidiary in East Turkestan. This move is part of ongoing efforts to eliminate forced labor from U.S. supply chains, particularly in relation to China's treatment of Uyghurs and other minority groups in Xinjiang. As always, the Chinese government has strongly denied these accusations.

We urge the Canadian government to take similar decisive action by imposing bans on these companies and targeted sanctions on Chinese officials responsible for these human rights abuses. Moreover, the Canadian government must follow the U.S. government and blacklist all companies exploiting Uyghurs in East Turkestan. Additionally, it is crucial to offer increased support and protection for Uyghur refugees and asylum seekers in Canada. Raising public awareness about the crisis and advocating for global action can help mitigate the ongoing atrocities and support the Uyghur cause.
