US Bans Cotton Linked to Uyghur Forced Labor

The United States has banned imports from 26 Chinese cotton traders and warehouses due to suspected forced labor of Uyghur minorities in East Turkistan (also known as Xinjiang). These additions to the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act Entity List aim to keep such products out of the U.S. supply chain.
Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas stated this move helps responsible companies conduct due diligence. Since 2021, 65 entities have faced import restrictions under the Act. US lawmakers are pushing for further blacklisting of companies in various industries that are using East Turkistan-sourced inputs.
We urge you to task CBSA with preventing these known entities from importing forced labor goods into the Canadian market.
